Kalonzo Names 5 Politicians Who Inherited Raila Mantle, Says He Would Never Back Broad-Based Gov't

By referencing the legacy of the late Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka has rekindled political discourse.

Kalonzo disclosed that he spent a substantial portion of his political career with Raila, learning a great deal about his views and political position, especially with reference to the contentious broad-based government agreement between ODM and UDA.

Kalonzo stressed that Raila would not have backed such a coalition, claiming that this understanding was the basis for his choice to grieve him "in his own way."

The comments seem to be intended to both appeal to Raila's devoted supporters and cast doubt on the validity of the present political alliance.

In a daring move, Kalonzo identified important individuals in ODM who, in his opinion, best represent Raila's core values.

He cited two leaders that exemplify Raila's political spirit: James Orengo and Peter Anyang' Nyong'o.

Additionally, he identified Osotsi and Edwin Sifuna as members of a group that is adamantly against the coalition's current course.

But his remarks alluded to internal contradictions, especially with regard to Wycliffe Oparanya, whom he said seemed to be "mixed up" in his position.

As leaders negotiate the changing political situation, this comment highlights the widening differences within ODM.

Most significantly, Kalonzo disclosed that the Sifuna-led group supports his "one-term" demand—a calculated move that might change opposition politics before the next election cycle.

He hinted at impending realignments by expressing hope about working with like-minded leaders to "make this country better."

Kalonzo's comments are expected to spark more discussion as political tensions rise, posing important queries on loyalty, legacy, and the future course of Kenya's opposition movement.
