Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has responded after his motorcade was attacked during opposition rallies in Meru County.
Taking to his social media accounts, Kalonzo shared a Bible verse following the incident:
“No weapon forged against you will prevail... This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD.” - Isaiah 54:17
He also posted several photos showing the extent of the damage to their vehicles. One of the vehicles carrying the sound system was reportedly severely damaged during the incident.
Kalonzo had accompanied Rigathi Gachagua, the leader of the DCP Party, for a church service in Meru on Sunday.
According to reports, the leaders were initially turned away from their first planned church service where DP Kithure Kindiki was before later attending another service in the Buuri area.
After the church service, the leaders addressed residents at a rally in Buuri. The gathering was initially peaceful, with a large crowd welcoming them before chaos broke out when their convoy was allegedly stoned.
The united opposition leaders have since condemned the incident and called on the government to ensure security during political gatherings.
