"I Want to be Remembered 200 Years After My Death" Deceased MP Ng’eno's Old Videos Leaves Kenyans Heartbroken

The tragic death of Hon. Johana Ng’eno in a helicopter crash on February 28, 2026, has brought back haunting memories of a man who lived his life with a premonition of legacy.

Known for his "fearless and focused" nature, the Emurua Dikirr MP once famously remarked that he would be "remembered for over 200 years," a statement born from a harrowing near-death ordeal in 2020.

In September 2020, following a scathing public attack on the then-government, Ng’eno was dramatically arrested at his Mogondo home. While the public saw the viral videos of the arrest, the legislator later narrated a chilling behind-the-scenes account.

He claimed that during his transfer, he was driven deep into a forest at night by armed officers, an experience he described as a psychological "execution" attempt.

For Ng’eno, that moment in the forest was a turning point. It solidified his brand of "firebrand" politics, where he viewed himself as a martyr for his community’s interests, particularly regarding land rights in the Mau Forest and the political future of the Rift Valley.

As President William Ruto noted in his tribute today, Ng’eno was a "devoted servant" who stood firmly for justice.

While his life was cut short at 54, the intensity of his political career ensures that his name will indeed remain etched in the annals of Kenyan history, perhaps not for 200 years, but certainly as a legend of his generation.
