Huge Amount Of Cash Ruto Has Donated To Support Distressed Dagoretti Family After Son Dies Abroad

A family in Dagoretti has received a major boost after President William Ruto pledged Ksh1.5 million to help them bring home the body of their son who died while undergoing treatment overseas.

The promise was made on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, during the President’s development tour in the area.

The emotional appeal was raised by local leaders who explained that the family was struggling to clear a huge hospital bill and meet the cost of repatriating their loved one’s body back to Kenya.

The deceased, identified as Frank Mathew, had travelled abroad in search of specialized medical care after doctors advised that his condition required treatment outside the country. Sadly, he passed away while still receiving care, leaving his family in deep grief and financial distress.

While addressing residents, the President acknowledged the family’s pain and confirmed that the government would step in to assist.

He directed his office to immediately release Ksh1.5 million to cover the hospital bill and support the process of bringing the body home for burial.

Residents who attended the event welcomed the gesture, saying it would ease the heavy burden the family had been carrying.

For many, the moment served as a reminder of the financial challenges that often come with seeking medical care abroad.

The development comes shortly after health authorities reminded Kenyans about the proper procedures required before traveling overseas for treatment.

According to government guidelines, patients must first be assessed by at least two qualified doctors who confirm that the treatment cannot be provided locally. After that, approval must be sought from the relevant health authority to qualify for support.

Officials have also encouraged Kenyans to use approved overseas hospitals so that insurance benefits can apply where possible. The move aims to protect families from unexpected medical bills and ensure transparency in the process.

For the Dagoretti family, however, the immediate concern was bringing their son home with dignity. With the President’s financial support now confirmed, preparations for repatriation and burial are expected to begin soon.
