National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed has once again taken aim at impeached former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, delivering a sharp rebuke before a cheering crowd.
In remarks that quickly went viral on social media, the Suna East MP claimed that Gachagua “fastens his trousers on the second floor,” a metaphor widely understood to suggest that the former Deputy President has an inflated sense of self-importance.
The comment, captured in a video shared by BTG News, drew thousands of views and sparked heated debate online.
Supporters in attendance responded enthusiastically to the jab, highlighting the politically charged atmosphere surrounding Gachagua since his impeachment from the Deputy Presidency.
Junet has been one of Gachagua’s most vocal critics in recent months. Speaking at another public event in April 2025, he said one of his proudest achievements was playing a central role in securing Gachagua’s impeachment.
He has consistently used public appearances to emphasize his satisfaction with the former Deputy President’s political setbacks.
The rivalry between the two politicians has been ongoing. Gachagua has positioned himself as a critic of President William Ruto’s administration, while Junet, a close ally of ODM, has repeatedly pushed back.
Junet has accused Gachagua of fueling ethnic tensions and undermining national unity, describing him as a politician who has lost direction and risks pushing the country toward instability.
Junet has further labelled Gachagua as embattled, malicious, and impeached, appealing to Kenyans for calm and unity as the country heads toward the 2027 elections.
Meanwhile, Gachagua continues to make public appearances and statements that generate controversy, especially on issues of electoral integrity and regional representation.
His supporters insist that the attacks from politicians like Junet are politically motivated and aim to silence legitimate dissent.
The latest exchange adds another chapter to one of Kenya’s most closely watched political rivalries. With the 2027 elections approaching, the tension between Junet Mohamed and Rigathi Gachagua shows no signs of easing.
