Fresh Details Emerge of White Land Cruiser That Trailed Tuju on Friday Before His Disappearance

Former Cabinet Secretary (CS) Raphael Tuju was reported missing on Saturday, March 21, sparking concern among family and associates.

The disappearance comes amid ongoing legal disputes over his multibillion-shilling properties in Karen.

The alarm was raised after Tuju’s family failed to reach him by phone. On Sunday morning, the officer in charge of Karen Police Station informed the family that Tuju’s vehicle had been found abandoned on Miotoni Lane. The car keys were reportedly left inside.

Tuju was expected to attend an interview in Ramogi on Saturday evening but never arrived. “This morning, while at church, Mano Tuju, his son, received a call from the Karen OCS notifying him that Hon.

Tuju's car was found abandoned,” said Grado Victor Mabachi, Tuju’s lawyer. “His phone is off, and he has not been seen since Saturday afternoon.”

Prior to his disappearance, Tuju reported being followed on Friday, March 20, by a white Land Cruiser 70-series without a number plate.

The matter was officially documented under OB 21/21/03/2026. Following the discovery of the abandoned car, a missing person report was filed under OB 17/22/03/2026.

Siaya Governor James Orengo confirmed the disappearance and urged Kenyans to pray for Tuju’s safety.

At the same time, the former CS is embroiled in a legal dispute over loans exceeding KSh 1 billion owed to the East Africa Development Bank (EADB) for his Karen properties.

Tuju has claimed attempts to repay the debt were obstructed, complicating efforts to resolve the case.

Kenyans have reacted with concern on social media. Some expressed hope for his safe return, while others reflected on his past prominence and resilience, noting that he has survived previous life-threatening incidents.

The Luo Council of Elders has suggested that EADB may be targeting Tuju’s prime property rather than merely recovering the loan.

Authorities are continuing investigations, but Tuju’s whereabouts remain unknown at the time of publishing.
