Family Of Man Killed By CS Aden Duale's Speeding Car Sends Message To Gov't As Body Still Lies In Mortuary

The family of a young man who died in an accident involving the convoy of Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale is now appealing to the government for justice and assistance as his body still remains in the mortuary weeks after the tragic incident.

The family from Kiminini Sub County in Trans Nzoia is demanding justice for their 23-year-old son Hillary Kiptoo Longi, who lost his life in a road accident involving a government vehicle in Kisumu earlier this month.

The accident occurred on March 8 in the Otonglo area along the Kisumu-Busia highway when a vehicle in the CS convoy crashed into a tuk-tuk that was transporting passengers.

It described a calm but heavily watched scene as Sakaja made his way into the Senate buildings, with security officers closely monitoring the situation.

His decision to present himself comes after mounting pressure from legal experts, political leaders, and members of the public who had questioned his earlier absence.

The development follows remarks by High Court Advocate Joshua Kiptoo, who had insisted that Sakaja must face the Senate, arguing that accountability cannot be avoided.

Kiptoo had earlier linked the trend of governors skipping summons to allegations of bribery demands claims that remain unproven but have sparked national debate.

Sakaja’s move now shifts attention to the Senate proceedings, where he is expected to respond to concerns raised by the watchdog committee. Observers say his appearance could set a precedent for other governors who have been reluctant to comply with oversight summons.

As the situation continues to unfold, Kenyans are keenly watching whether the session will bring clarity to the issues under investigation and reinforce the rule of law in public service.
