Dennis Itumbi Says Rigathi Refused to Join Pres Ruto In Announcing General Ogolla's Death, Details

Former head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Dennis Itumbi has alleged President William Ruto was pressured to support the impeachment of former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

On March 8, 2026, Itumbi, who took to social media platforms to recount events after the death of former Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla, said former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua refused to join the President in Nairobi to announce Ogolla's death.

According to Itumbi, on the day former CDF Ogolla died, President Ruto sent his own military chopper to pick up the bodies and called Rigathi to join him in Nairobi for the announcement.

Rigathi allegedly refused, claiming he had a meeting with leaders in Meru. The meeting was for leaders who wanted to impeach the former Governor.

Itumbi slammed Rigathi, whom he said is trying to act as the savior of Meru residents, yet he was at the forefront of calling for the Governor's impeachment.

Itumbi alleged President Ruto was against the impeachment and at one point called on Meru leaders to sit and talk, agreeing on what to do without impeaching Kawira.
