Nyanza MP Breathes Fire After Latest State House Appointments, Says It Won't Happen Under Their Watch

Homa Bay Town MP George Peter Kaluma has voiced a scathing critique of the latest string of foreign service appointments.

The nyanza MP has targeted State House Chief of Staff Felix Koskei for what he describes as a blatant disregard for constitutional principles.

The controversy has erupted following a press release from the Executive Office of the President, detailing new nominations for ambassadorial and deputy ambassadorial roles in missions ranging from Copenhagen to Mogadishu.

For Kaluma, these appointments are not just administrative shifts, they represent a deeper, systemic exclusion that he claims has plagued the Luo community since independence.

At the heart of Kaluma’s fire-breathing stance is Article 232 of the Constitution, which mandates values and principles of public service, including representation of Kenya’s diverse communities.

The MP argues that the current list fails the litmus test of regional balance and ethnic inclusivity.

Taking to social media, Kaluma has directly challenged Felix Koskei to uphold the law rather than facilitate perceived discrimination.

The timing of this friction is particularly sensitive. As the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) moves toward a formal coalition agreement with the current administration, Kaluma’s outburst signals a significant internal hurdle.

He has boldly stated that such lopsided appointments will not happen under their watch, suggesting that the path to a unified government will be rocky if the Luo community feels sidelined.

Moving forward, the MP has promised to mobilize legislative oversight to ensure that Parliament scrutinizes these nominations with a fine-tooth comb.

Secondly, demand accountability and also push for a transparent audit of public service appointments to ensure regional equity.

And lastly protect the coalition’s integrity by ensuring that any partnership with the State is built on mutual respect and fair representation.
