Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has alleged the amount of money each UDA aspirant will receive after attending the party’s aspirants forum at State House.
In a social media post on Wednesday morning, February 4, Natembeya claimed that each aspirant is set to receive KSh 20,000, with 12,353 aspirants in attendance.
The total, according to Natembeya, amounts to about KSh 247 million, close to KSh 300 million spent in a single day. He argued that this is not party money, but taxpayers’ money.
The vocal Trans Nzoia governor claimed the payouts involve taxpayers’ funds, raising concerns over misuse of public money.
For context, Natembeya compared the sum to infrastructure costs. Low-volume rural tarmac roads typically cost between KSh 20 million and KSh 40 million per kilometre.
With KSh 300 million, about 15 kilometres of tarmac road could be built, covering areas from Kipsongo to Kisawai.
The remarks came after President William Ruto, who also leads UDA, hosted the party’s aspirants for the 2027 General Election at State House on Wednesday.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, who also serves as the UDA deputy party leader, also attended the event.
During the forum, the two leaders praised the ruling party and highlighted its popularity.
The event drew thousands of aspirants who had registered to vie on UDA in the 2027 General Election.
Among those who graved the event include Chama Cha Kazi party leader Moses Kuria, who recently announced he will vie on UDA for the Gatundu South parliamentary seat. Kuria showed up fully dressed in UDA regalia.
