Liberation party leader Martha Karua has praised Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, describing him as a principled leader and a politician she would readily work with, alongside others who share similar values and ideas.
Speaking on Sunday, January 15, 2026, during an interview on Citizen Sunday Live, Karua emphasized that her approach to politics is anchored on principles rather than personalities.
She said collaboration in public service should be guided by shared ideals, integrity, and commitment to the welfare of citizens, not political convenience or short-term gains.
Karua noted that Sifuna has consistently demonstrated courage and clarity in articulating issues affecting the country, particularly on matters of governance, accountability, and the rule of law.
According to her, such attributes are essential for leaders who aspire to drive meaningful reforms and restore public trust in leadership.
The former Justice Minister added that Kenya’s political future depends on leaders who are willing to rise above partisan interests and work together for the common good.
She stressed that the challenges facing the country, including economic pressure and institutional weakness, require collective thinking and cooperation among like-minded leaders across party lines.
Her remarks come at a time when conversations around unity and realignment within the opposition continue to gain momentum ahead of the 2027 General Election.
While she did not allude to any specific political arrangement, Karua made it clear that she remains open to working with individuals who demonstrate consistency, honesty, and respect for democratic values.
