Former public service cabinet secretary Moses Kuria has made a surprise political move after joining the race for Gatundu South MP seat.
On Sunday, the former CS confirmed the development on his X handle, sharing the screenshot of his registration as an aspirant of the position via the UDA party ticket.
Just a few weeks ago, Kuria had declared his bid for the Nairobi City County Governor position come the 2027 general election.
With the Nairobi City County Governor seat attracting political titans, the former CS may have smelled blood and opted to pull out of the race.
The development means that Kuria is preparing a major political face-off with the current Gatundu South MP Gabriel Kagombe.
In 2017, Kagombe clinched the seat on an independent party ticket. But he has since gravitated to UDA. This effectively sets stage for the two to square it out in the nominations for the ruling party ticket.
Having represented Gatundu South constituency for two terms, Kuria is no pushover in Kiambu County politics. As such, the incumbent should brace himself for a major political showdown.
