Kenyans Raise Alarm After this Leader is Spotted in the State House With Pres Ruto

Visits by controversial foreign businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo to Kenya’s State House have sparked intense public debate and ethical questions about presidential hospitality.

Chivayo, a Zimbabwean entrepreneur known for his flamboyant lifestyle and past allegations linked to fraud and disputed election materials, first met President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki at Sagana State Lodge on January 11.

Despite having a controversial reputation abroad, including alleged involvement in supplying election materials in South Africa and Namibia, Chivayo has continued to appear publicly with Kenya’s top leaders, raising eyebrows among political observers.

Social media photos shared by Chivayo show him praising Kenyan leadership, further fueling public curiosity about the nature of his relationship with senior officials.

Opposition figures have questioned why a person with such a contested background is welcomed into the highest offices of the Kenyan government, especially as the country prepares for general elections next year.

Critics argue that hosting someone with alleged links to irregular elections elsewhere could undermine public confidence in Kenya’s own electoral integrity, and they have called on the presidency to clarify the motives behind these meetings.

State House spokesman Hussein Mohamed and Presidential Communication Service head Munyori Buku have not responded to inquiries about the purpose of Chivayo’s visits.

Similarly, Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei has deflected questions about Chivayo’s interests in Kenya and the frequency of his visits to the country.

With ongoing public skepticism and political pressure mounting, the controversy around these high-profile engagements shows no signs of fading soon.
