A popular lodging facility in Kitui town has been temporarily closed for several hours this afternoon after a dramatic incident involving two lovers who reportedly checked in during the morning hours and failed to leave their room for an extended period, drawing concern from staff and residents nearby.
According to preliminary reports from people around the area, the couple entered the premises at around 8:23 a.m., with witnesses saying they appeared calm and unbothered at the time.
One nearby resident who says he saw them arrive spoke to reporters on scene:
“Mimi niliwaona wakiingia, mwanaume alitangulia kisha mwanamke akafuata. Kumbe walikuwa kimoja. Sijawai ona hali kama hiyo maishani,” he said.
Situation Caused Panic and Crowd Gathering
Lodging workers reportedly tried to reach the occupants after several hours of silence, prompting alarm and attracting a crowd of curious residents outside the building. The commotion forced management to suspend operations briefly as the situation was being handled.

Woman Speaks While in Distress
The woman involved, identified by first names given at the scene as Maggy Mwende (identity not independently verified), was heard speaking while visibly distressed. She claimed she is married and deeply regretted her actions.
“Huu ndio wakati wangu wa kwanza wa kulala na mwanaume wa nje. Sikutambua mambo yangefika hapa. Naomba mnisaidie mpigie bwanangu,” she cried out.
