President William Ruto triggered a major wave of changes across key state agencies, firing and appointing several top officials in a reshuffle that has stirred intense political and public debate.
The early morning announcement, contained in a gazette notice, marks one of the most significant reorganisations in his administration this year.
Among the most notable dismissals was that of Josephat Gichunge Mwirabua Kabeabea .
Who was removed as Chairperson and Member of the Board of Directors at the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA).
The revocation, executed by Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui, took immediate effect.
Kabeabea’s ouster comes weeks after the Director of Public Prosecutions approved charges against him.
Over allegations of soliciting a bribe from a Chinese investor operating under Hongda Automotive Limited.
While announcing the changes, the government described the move as part of efforts to strengthen accountability and restore integrity in state regulatory bodies.
Kabeabea, a former Tigania East MP, had served as ACA chair since February 2023.
Aside from the firing, President Ruto confirmed the reappointment of Winfreda Ngumi as Chairperson of the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), extending her tenure until November 2026.
In the Education sector, CS Julius Ogamba made sweeping replacements, appointing former Busia Woman Representative Florence Mutua to the Council of Mama Ngina University College, replacing Lizzie Chongoti.
Ogamba also named Ruth Charity Wanyonyi, Edita Wambeti Njue, Emmanuel Bore Ng’etuny, and Thuranira Thimangu to the Council of Tharaka University.
Additionally, Robert Nyanjui Wainaina and Peter Bunei Mastamet were appointed to the Maseno University Council.
Further changes were also announced in the Transport and ICT ministries.
CS Davis Chirchir appointed Joyce Nyambura Mundara and Kenneth Wando Odhiambo to the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA),
While ICT CS William Kabogo named four new members to the Media Council of Kenya.
The rapid reshuffle signals a broader restructuring drive within Ruto’s administration as it seeks to align key agencies with its governance agenda.
