Earlier in the week, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo issued an update on the ongoing rehabilitation of the Kakamega Airstrip.
He explained that the airstrip is undergoing major improvements aimed at modernizing its main operational areas.
According to Omollo, the works include rebuilding the runway, expanding taxiways, and upgrading the apron.

Once the project is complete, the facility will be able to accommodate more aircraft and increased air traffic.
This is expected to boost domestic flights, open up business opportunities, and attract more visitors to the county.
He added that the investment is part of a wider national plan to strengthen county economies by improving key transport infrastructure.
