Mama Ida Odinga could not hide her delight as Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka went beyond gifting 100 head of cattle to the grieving Odinga family.
Delivering truckloads of food supplies that will sustain mourners well into the new year.
The widow of opposition icon Raila Odinga revealed that Kalonzo’s convoy arrived laden with foodstuff enough to feed thousands of visitors expected through December and beyond.
“I am in awe. Besides the 100 cows, he brought food that can last us long enough, even past December,” Mama Ida said, her voice cracking with emotion.
“Those coming to mourn with us should not worry; there is plenty of food now.”
But the food donation has eased immediate pressure on the family, which has hosted nonstop streams of dignitaries, supporters, and citizens since Raila’s passing.
Kalonzo, a close ally of the Odingas for decades, described the gesture as an act of brotherhood. “In times of loss, we share the burden.
The cows honor tradition; the food ensures dignity for all who come to pay respects,” he told journalists at the gate.
The arrival of the supplies drew cheers from volunteers managing the compound.
Mama Ida’s gratitude underscores a rare moment of unity cutting across political divides in a nation still processing its loss.
