"I’m Not Fighting Oburu" Orengo Drops a Bombshell, Reveals Deep Secrets Amid Rift With Oburu Odinga

Siaya Governor James Orengo has dismissed claims of a personal feud with Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga, insisting that his political stance is solely aimed at protecting citizens and safeguarding democratic principles within the ODM party.

Speaking during a televised interview on Wednesday, Orengo said his disagreements with some party leaders should not be viewed as a personal battle, but rather as an effort to ensure the Orange Democratic Movement adheres to its constitution and founding ideals.

“I have no personal problem with Oburu. What I am fighting for is to ensure ODM respects its constitution and continues to defend the interests of ordinary citizens,” Orengo said.

His remarks come amid growing political tensions within ODM over the party’s direction following the shifting political landscape around veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Orengo has emerged as one of the leaders insisting that ODM should remain a strong opposition voice focused on holding the government accountable.

Orengo emphasized that his “Protect the Citizen” campaign is intended to ensure leaders remain accountable to the people rather than prioritizing political interests.

This position contrasts with a faction associated with Oburu Oginga that has shown support for closer cooperation with President William Ruto’s administration.

The governor also claimed there is a leadership vacuum within ODM that should be addressed in accordance with the party’s constitution.

His declaration that he is prepared to provide interim leadership for the party has sparked debate among ODM supporters and leaders alike.

Political analysts say the differences between Orengo and Oburu reflect a broader struggle over ODM’s future direction.

One side wants the party to maintain its traditional opposition role, while the other believes cooperation with the government could secure greater political influence and development opportunities.

The ongoing tensions continue to attract strong reactions from ODM supporters and could significantly shape the political dynamics of the Nyanza region and the country ahead of the next general election.
