A dramatic and emotional moment unfolded in court after Jackson Nderitu, nephew to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, opened up about his strained relationship with his uncle and the alleged intimidation he claims to have faced.
Speaking before the court, Jackson revealed that he had made several attempts to reconcile with the former second-in-command, even during the period when Gachagua held the powerful Deputy President position. However, according to him, the efforts never bore fruit.
“I have been trying to find ways of reconciliation with my uncle, even when he was the Deputy President, but we couldn't agree,” Jackson emotionally told the court.
The remarks left the courtroom silent as he further alleged that some people close to him were abducted in what he believes was an attempt to pressure and intimidate him.
“My people were also abducted to threaten me,” he claimed.
The emotional testimony comes amid the ongoing legal and family disputes surrounding the estate of the late former Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua.
The case has continued to attract public attention due to the political influence of the Gachagua family and the deep divisions emerging within the household.
Jackson, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence, appeared in court seeking to overturn his conviction.
His latest remarks now add a deeply personal and emotional dimension to the already controversial matter.
The court is expected to continue hearing submissions as legal teams battle over the case, which has sparked widespread debate online and within political circles.
Political observers say the unfolding family fallout could further expose the hidden tensions within one of Kenya’s most influential political families.
