A police investigation is underway in Uasin Gishu County following the sudden death of a young Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student, an incident that has left classmates and residents in shock as questions linger over what transpired in her final hours.
The student, identified as Sharon Nyongesa, was 25 years old and reportedly undertaking her medical training while attached to a local health facility for practical experience.
Reports indicate that she spent the night at a guest house near Mosombor trading centre in the company of an older man, identified as Stanley Kipkemei.
According to initial accounts, Kipkemei later sought urgent medical help after Nyongesa allegedly became unresponsive in the early hours of the morning.
She was taken to a nearby clinic, where she was pronounced dead on arrival by medical staff. The suddenness of her death immediately raised concern, prompting authorities to secure the scene and launch formal investigations.
Police have since taken Kipkemei into custody to assist with inquiries as detectives work to reconstruct the events leading up to the incident.
The student’s body was moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death.
The news has spread widely among KMTC students and the broader public, with many describing Nyongesa as a focused and ambitious young woman who was passionate about pursuing a career in healthcare.
Tributes shared online and within her academic circles reflect a sense of disbelief at her passing.
At the same time, the incident has stirred public discussion about safety, relationships, and the risks young people may face in private social settings.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation as the investigation continues, emphasizing that official findings will be released once forensic and medical reports are complete.
For now, both family and friends are left waiting for answers as they mourn a life that ended abruptly under unclear circumstances.
