Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has launched a fierce response to his political rivals, warning that he will confront them head-on ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor, who has recently come under criticism from Senator Edwin Sifuna and MP Babu Owino, appeared to signal a more aggressive political stance in the coming campaign period.
Sifuna and Babu have been among Sakaja’s most vocal critics, with Babu already declaring his intention to unseat the governor in the 2027 election.
Speaking during a public address, Sakaja, without directly naming his opponents—dismissed their claims of understanding Nairobi politics, accusing them of empty rhetoric.
The governor noted that he has deliberately maintained a low profile to focus on service delivery, but warned that he is ready to engage politically when the time comes.
“The day we take off our coats and roll up our sleeves, we will chase them out of Nairobi,” Sakaja declared.
His remarks came shortly after a visit to the capital by President William Ruto.
During the visit, President Ruto highlighted ongoing cooperation between the national and county governments, emphasizing that such collaboration is key to effectively managing Nairobi.
