Unexpected Twist as Missing Form 3 Girl Is Captured on CCTV Accompanying a Man In Karatina Town

The search for a missing 16-year-old student has taken a new turn after surveillance footage revealed her last known movements in Karatina, Nyeri County.

The teenager, Joy Wanjiru, has been missing for ten days, leaving her family in distress as they continue to seek answers.

CCTV cameras installed in different parts of Karatina have provided crucial details that may help trace her whereabouts.

One of the recordings shows the Form Three student from Kenya High School walking alongside an unidentified man shortly before she disappeared.

The two were seen heading towards the Ragati River bridge, raising fresh concerns about her safety.

According to her family, Wanjiru left Nairobi on Wednesday, April 1, at around 11.15am.

She boarded a matatu heading to Skuta, a stage located a few kilometres from Nyeri town, where she usually alights.

The vehicle reportedly arrived in Nyeri at about 2.30pm, but she did not get off at her usual stop.

Instead, she continued to Nyeri town, a decision that has puzzled her relatives.

Her mother, Esther Githigia, stated that the driver confirmed Wanjiru had little or no money and could not proceed with her journey.

Later, some of her belongings were found near the Ragati River, further deepening fears about what may have happened.

Additional CCTV footage shows Wanjiru moving through Gyakairo Estate at around 5.12pm.

She was wearing a grey skirt, white blouse, and brown shoes and carrying a bag.

Witnesses reported that she appeared uncertain, walking in one direction before turning back along the same route.

Later, at about 6.37pm, she was captured again near the Saigoni area, still alone and carrying her bag.

However, minutes later, another camera recorded her without the bag and in the company of a man.

The footage shows the man walking ahead as they approached the Ragati River bridge.

The following morning, one of her bags was recovered near the river, close to where she had last been seen.

Local administrators, led by area chief Dadson Ithiru, are coordinating search efforts as investigations continue.

Despite the worrying developments, Wanjiru’s family has appealed to the public for any information that could help locate her, expressing hope that she will be found safe.
