The Kasongo Blunder: President Ruto Bursts Into Laughter After Viral Slip During His Friday Speech

President William Ruto made a brief slip of the tongue during a public address, leading to a light moment that drew laughter from attendees before he corrected himself and continued speaking.

The President was addressing economic and market-related issues when he used a phrase that differed from his intended wording. He immediately noticed the mistake, corrected it, and proceeded with his speech without disruption.

The event took place during a public function attended by government officials, local leaders, and members of the public.

The atmosphere remained calm as the President continued outlining government priorities, including support for traders, food systems, and market access.

An attendee at the event said:

“It was a small slip, but the President corrected it immediately and continued with his remarks.”

President Ruto has been focusing on economic recovery messaging in recent public engagements, highlighting initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and stabilising key sectors such as agriculture and trade.

During the same address, he reiterated government efforts to support small businesses and strengthen local markets as part of ongoing economic reforms.

Public appearances by the Head of State often attract attention to both policy statements and informal moments during speeches. Such moments are frequently shared on media platforms but do not affect the official content of the address.

Government communication teams did not issue any clarification regarding the slip, treating it as a minor verbal error that did not alter the substance of the message delivered.

The event proceeded as scheduled, with the President completing his address and engaging with members of the public afterward.
