Photos of Nairobi Businesswoman Who Was Swept Away by Deadly Floods While at Her Residence

Photos have surfaced online showing a Nairobi businesswoman who went missing after she was swept away by sudden flash floods while at her residence in Nairobi on Monday, April 27.

The images, now widely shared on social media, show her smiling in happier moments with friends and family, a contrast that has deepened the grief of those who knew her.

Her disappearance has left relatives and friends devastated as search and recovery efforts continue following the heavy rains that disrupted large parts of the capital.

Nairobi was among the hardest-hit areas as intense rainfall caused fast-rising floodwaters that destroyed property, disrupted transport, and claimed several lives.

At the Nairobi Funeral Home, painful scenes were witnessed as families gathered to identify the bodies of loved ones who died in the disaster.

At least fifteen families were able to identify their relatives, though many others are still searching for missing family members.

Among those still unaccounted for is Beatrice Akinyi, a tea vendor who operated along Kirinyaga Road. Her family says they have searched several hospitals and mortuaries but have not found her.

Her brother, Edward Tuju, said they remain uncertain whether she survived and is receiving treatment or was among those killed in the floods.

Her close friend, Lilian Akinyi, recalled their final conversation.

She said Beatrice called around noon saying that floodwater had entered her residence and she had climbed onto a table to stay safe.

She reportedly asked her friend to pray for her as the water levels continued to rise and she feared for her life.

By around 1 pm, attempts to reach her were unsuccessful as her phone went off, and she has not been heard from since.

As recovery efforts continue, families across Nairobi remain in anguish, holding onto hope for answers as authorities work to account for all those affected by the tragedy.
