Orengo Reveals The People Who Actually Sold ODM To Ruto, Clears Oburu Of Being The Mastermind

Siaya Governor James Orengo has made a remarkable revelation defending Oburu Oginga against claims that he masterminded the alleged sale of ODM to President William Ruto.

Speaking at Kisumu International Airport on Friday April 24 Orengo said Oburu was not among the original group that went to State House to negotiate the party's alignment with the ruling administration.

Orengo claimed the conspiracy to hand ODM over to Ruto was hatched on the eve of the repatriation of the late Raila Odinga's remains to Kenya.

He said the plot was discussed and a price agreed upon at State House while Kenyans were preparing to receive their fallen leader's body.

"The conspiracy to sell ODM was made on the eve of the return of the remains of Raila Odinga to Kenya.

That conspiracy took place in the State House and what you are now seeing was discussed deliberated and a price paid for it," Orengo said.

He insisted that at the beginning Oburu was not part of this group. However he expressed concern that Oburu's subsequent association with the same people had placed ODM in a dangerous position that has left many party supporters deeply worried about its future direction.

Orengo explained why he declared himself acting party leader saying people everywhere have been calling on him to step up.

He later adjusted the title to "People's Party Leader" saying ODM is being sold to political enemies and he must stand firm against that.

He outlined four responsibilities he has assumed — ensuring ODM is not swallowed by UDA, protecting Raila's legacy, maintaining the party's reach and ensuring ODM does not become a junior partner to a party that once needed it.

Orengo sharply criticised Oburu for agreeing to hold party talks with UDA inside State House saying Raila never once took ODM's leadership to State House to discuss partnership matters. He called it the most shameful development in the party's recent history.

Oburu dismissed Orengo's self-declaration entirely. "You can be a party leader of the trees, you can be a party leader of the birds, but you are certainly not the party leader of ODM," Oburu fired back refusing to recognise the governor's claim to any leadership title within the party.
