Mambo Ni Matatu”: Ruto Given Three Options for Stepping Down as President Before 2027 Elections

Former Deputy President has sparked fresh debate over the future of the Social Health Authority (SHA) after issuing a bold warning about its sustainability.

Speaking during a public address, Gachagua revealed that consultations with experts in healthcare and insurance had painted a troubling picture of the scheme’s future.

According to him, professionals familiar with the health sector have raised serious concerns about the structure and implementation of SHA.

He stated that the advice he received suggests the program may not survive beyond six months if urgent changes are not made.

His remarks have quickly drawn attention from both supporters and critics, placing the government’s healthcare agenda under renewed scrutiny.

The Social Health Authority was introduced as part of wider reforms aimed at improving access to medical services and reducing the financial burden on citizens.

However, since its rollout, questions have continued to emerge over its funding model, management, and ability to deliver on its promises.

Gachagua’s statement now adds weight to those doubts, amplifying calls for transparency and accountability.

Health stakeholders have remained divided on the matter. While some maintain that the initiative has the potential to transform healthcare access, others warn that without proper planning and sustainable financing, it could struggle to meet expectations.

The concerns raised revolve around resource allocation, service delivery, and long-term viability.

As discussions intensify, the spotlight is now firmly on policymakers to address these fears and reassure the public.

Whether SHA will overcome the challenges or face the fate predicted remains uncertain. What is clear, however, is that the coming months will be critical in determining the direction of Kenya’s healthcare reforms.
