Popular Comedian Eddy Butita has faced a lot of criticism from a section of Kenyans after he shared photos of himself and President William Ruto in State House after his visit earlier this week.
Speaking through his official X page, the Comedian did state that the meeting with the President was solely focused on advocating for the rights of Kenyan artists who have lost copyright claims on their music after signing deals with foreigners.
The Comedian also stated that his visit to State House was not for political purposes but fighting for the rights of the Kenyan artists.
"Earlier this week, I was in a meeting that was honestly very sad. Over 30 artists do not own their music yes most of the hits you know, their names, or even the rights to their images and this is in perpetuity." Wrote the comedian.
The meeting with the President appears not to have sat well with a section of critics who have accused the comedian of taking political sides for selfish ambitions.
One x user even stated that the comedian is lying to Kenyans and the visit to State House was all for selfish gain.
A section of others Kenyans have raised concerns on why everything has to be done in State House when there are other Government agencies that can deal with such issues.
"Do we have to go to State House for every solution. You have to be serious."
"Be courageous and tell Kenyans you went to State House to negotiate on contracts to popularize the two-term movement."
"These are lies. Just be happy for your pocket."
"Don't over explain yourself."
