According to reports, President William Ruto arrived moments after Rigathi arrived with his team.
The former Deputy President of Kenya, who spoke about the funeral, called on residents to come out in large numbers and maintain peace.
He also called on the President to be respectful, adding that he was chased away from government but can't be chased away from his home.
"Someone told me that since the President will be coming, I should stay away from the funeral. I want to say it here. I'm going to attend the funeral.
The President chased us away from government. He can't chase us away from our home. This is the headquarters of the Mau Mau," Rigathi Gachagua said.
Meanwhile, leaders who spoke about Rigathi's planned attendance called on politicians to be respectful.
Kikuyu member of parliament Kimani Ichungwah slammed the former Deputy President of Kenya for allegedly giving President William Ruto conditions ahead of his attendance.
He alleged that it is unfortunate that Rigathi was giving out orders without considering the feelings of the grieving family, adding that the deceased was not close to him in any way.
