The people of Kisumu have once again proven that when it comes to justice they don’t wait for official badges.
While police officers assigned to the case seem content flipping through reports over cold coffee ordinary residents have already done the hard work and handed everything over on a silver platter.
According to information shared by Nairobi Leo locals have successfully identified the goons who attacked Osotsi.
But they didn’t stop there.
They also named the man allegedly bankrolling the whole operation Edwin Sifuna.
Yes the same Edwin Sifuna Nairobi Senator and ODM Secretary General.
That’s right.
Citizens tracked down the foot soldiers and the supposed financier while the very people paid to do this job are being accused of sitting on their hands.
Now here is where it gets infuriating.
The police already have this information.
It has been handed to them.
Clear names clear links clear evidence gathered not by high tech forensics but by determined locals who refused to watch violence go unpunished.
The inaction as Nairobi Leo put it bluntly is unacceptable.
And they are being generous with that word.
One has to ask if residents of Kisumu can play detective, interview witnesses, connect dots and name both the thugs and their alleged paymaster within days what exactly are our security agencies doing?
Filing their nails? Waiting for a written confession signed in triplicate?
The ball is no longer in the court of the people.
It is rotting in the police’s half of the pitch.
Every day that passes without action sends one clear message you can hire thugs to attack a leader and as long as you have connections or a big name the system will look the other way.
Now police must do theirs before the public starts wondering whether they are protecting the financier instead of arresting him.
