Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has been charged in court after police said he gave false information about an alleged abduction.
The incident has attracted national attention after Tuju claimed he had been kidnapped, only for investigators to later question the truth of his story. According to authorities, the report caused unnecessary panic and led to the misuse of police resources.
Tuju was taken to Karen Police Station shortly after he resurfaced. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) began reviewing the details of his claims.
