"This Is Nonesense" Babu Owino Dares Police As Court Warrant Targets His X Post Linking PS Omollo To Kisumu Deaths Probe

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has claimed that plans to arrest him are underway after a court in Kakamega allowed detectives to investigate his X account.

The outspoken lawmaker reacted with defiance and said he is ready for what he called nonsense. He also questioned why officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Kakamega are the ones leading the probe.

The warrant was issued on March 5 2026 by the Chief Magistrate's Criminal Court in Kakamega. It allows investigators to examine posts linked to Owino's verified account @HEBabuOwino.

Detectives believe a message shared on February 22 may have published false information under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act of 2018.

In the disputed post Owino accused Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo of sending goons to attack and kill a boda boda rider in Kisumu named George Olwande.

The post included a disturbing image showing a man lying on the ground while bleeding as another person lifted his identity card.

According to the court order Sgt Aron Koros from the Western Region DCI has been authorized to seek detailed data from the platform through the Communications Authority of Kenya.

Investigators want subscriber names phone numbers device details IP addresses location records and the date the account was created.

The order also directs the company to provide a certificate of electronic evidence as required by law. Failure to comply could attract a fine or a prison term of up to one year. Owino responded by posting the warrant online and insisting the investigation is driven by politics.

The controversy comes after weeks of tension in parts of Nyanza and Western Kenya linked to political rallies.

Owino earlier claimed his security officer and the officer's wife were arrested and assaulted in Kisumu without clear charges. He argued the actions were meant to intimidate his supporters.

Reports from the region suggested that groups of young men had been mobilized in areas such as Kondele and Luanda before a planned rally in Kakamega. Some local voices claimed the youths were paid and transported to create chaos during the political event.
