"Stop Seeking For Sympathy", Netizens Warns Opposition On Their Pretentious Theatrics

Politics, however, has long been viewed as one of the most contentious arenas worldwide.

Critics argue that political competition often involves propaganda, manipulation, and at times even violence as rival factions compete for influence and power.

During a recent opposition visit to Timau in Meru County, tensions reportedly escalated. Later in the evening, former Vice President and leader of the Kalonzo Musyoka claimed that his vehicle had been torched by suspected goons.

In a statement posted on his account on X, Kalonzo said he narrowly escaped harm. He quoted the Bible verse Book of Isaiah 54:17, writing: “No weapon forged against you will prevail… this is the heritage of the servants of the Lord.”

He further alleged that police officers, acting on instructions from what he referred to as “soprano,” prevented them from attending a worship service at Methodist Church in Kenya Kaaga Church in Meru, describing the incident as a denial of their freedom of worship.

The remarks sparked mixed reactions online. Some social media users accused the opposition leader of exaggerating the incident in an attempt to gain public sympathy.

Others questioned the claim, arguing that vehicles used by senior politicians are usually heavily fortified.

However, other Kenyans condemned the alleged attack and called for investigations to establish the truth and ensure accountability.

On X, users including accounts identified as Kinyua Favoured and Oyugi Pisi alleged that Kalonzo and his allies had instead gone to cause disruption at Kaaga Methodist Church, claims that further fueled the debate online.
