Nandi County Senator Samson Kiprotich Cherargei has cleared the school and exam fees of a young nurse who tried to save victims of the deadly helicopter crash in Mosop Constituency.
The tragic accident occurred on February 28 in the Chepkiep area, Nandi County. It claimed six lives, including Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng’eno, the pilot, and four members of his team.
The crash shocked residents who rushed to the scene in an attempt to help. Among them was Jacobeth Jeptoo, a recent graduate of Kendu Adventist School of Medical Sciences.
She quickly put on her gloves and began offering first aid to the injured.
Her calm response and courage drew praise from Kenyans across the country.
In a Facebook post, Cherargei confirmed his support for the young nurse.
He said he had just held a phone conversation with their heroine, Ms Jeptoo Jacobeth, following her rescue efforts at the ill-fated helicopter crash that claimed the lives of MP Johanna Ng’eno and five others.
He noted that Jeptoo completed her community health nursing course in February 2026 and was waiting to sit for the Kenya Nursing Council qualifying exams scheduled for May 2026.
The senator said he cleared her fee arrears and also paid for her qualifying exams to enable her to register as a practising nurse.
He added that they would walk the journey with her until she secures placement and continues serving humanity in honour of the departed brothers.
He also thanked the Chepkiep community in Mosop Constituency for the solidarity shown during the tragic accident on Saturday.
Her actions have become a symbol of hope during a time of deep sorrow.
