Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in eight counties on Wednesday, April 1. The outages are part of routine maintenance aimed at improving power supply.
In a notice issued on March 31, the utility said the interruptions will last between six and nine hours. The duration will vary depending on the location and the scope of work.
In Nairobi, parts of Westlands will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Areas along General Mathenge, Ring Road, and Eldama Ravine Road will be impacted. Nearby businesses and residences will also face disruptions.
Another outage in the city will hit sections of Kayole along Spine Road during the same hours. Estates such as Komarock and nearby areas are expected to be affected.
In Nakuru County, locations including Milimani, Teachers, and Ngomongo will experience power cuts from morning to evening. Several institutions and residential areas will remain without electricity during that period.
Bomet County will also face a full-day outage in Ndanai. Markets, schools, and surrounding homes will be affected.
In Uasin Gishu, outages will occur in phases. Areas such as Mbacho and Musembe will lose power from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., while Maili Nne and Emkoin will be affected until 5:00 p.m.
Kisumu County will experience a blackout from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Areas around Kajulu and Nyabondo are among those listed.
In Kakamega, the outage will start earlier at 8:00 a.m. and run until evening. Several trading centres, schools, and factories will be affected.
Meru and Nyeri counties will also face similar disruptions across multiple locations.
Kenya Power has advised residents to plan ahead and take necessary precautions during the outage period.
