"Babu Kwa Sababu" Women Spotted Chanting As They Welcome Babu Owino In Ukambani -VIDEO

Women in Kaiti Constituency on Sunday welcomed Babu Owino with loud cheers and songs as the outspoken legislator joined residents ahead of a church service and a planned political rally.

The enthusiastic crowd, largely made up of women, lined the roadside waving and chanting the popular slogan “Babu Kwa Sababu,”.

Some of the women could be seen dancing and ululating as Owino made his way through the crowd, greeting supporters and thanking them for the warm reception.

The visit comes as a section of leaders from the Orange Democratic Movement continues to oppose the party’s decision to work with the government led by William Ruto. The faction, which has been vocal about maintaining the party’s opposition stance, is led by Edwin Sifuna, Owino and James Orengo.

According to organisers, the leaders are expected to attend a church service with local residents before addressing supporters at a rally later in the day.

The gathering is anticipated to attract a sizeable crowd of ODM supporters from across the region who remain critical of the party’s cooperation with the Kenya Kwanza administration.

While addressing the women briefly, Owino expressed gratitude for the support and reiterated his commitment to what he termed as defending the interests of ordinary Kenyans and the original ideals of the ODM movement.

Political observers say the growing mobilisation by the group signals an intensifying debate within ODM over the party’s political direction.

The leaders have maintained that the party should remain a firm opposition voice despite ongoing engagements between some ODM figures and the national government.

The Kaiti event is expected to set the tone for more grassroots engagements by the dissenting ODM leaders as they seek to rally supporters across the country.
