Former Orange Democratic Movement Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has sparked fresh political debate after declaring that the opposition is confident of removing President William Ruto from office in the next general election.
Speaking during a public engagement, Sifuna expressed strong belief that the current administration will not survive a second term.
He said the opposition is already focused on preparations for the 2027 elections and is building structures across the country to strengthen its support base.
Sifuna pointed to Talanta Stadium as the symbolic venue where the opposition coalition would celebrate victory and take the oath of office if they win. He described the stadium as a modern facility that reflects national pride and said it would be a fitting place for a new chapter in leadership.
His remarks come at a time when political temperatures are slowly rising as leaders position themselves ahead of the next polls. The opposition has consistently criticised the Kenya Kwanza administration over the high cost of living, taxation, and governance concerns.
Sifuna maintained that many Kenyans are struggling economically and are demanding change. He said the opposition’s mission is to offer alternative policies that will ease the burden on citizens and restore public confidence in leadership.
However, allies of President Ruto have defended the government’s record. They argue that the administration is implementing long term reforms meant to stabilise the economy and create opportunities for young people.
