Mystery surrounds the brutal murder of Kenyatta University Teaching Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) employee Andrew Nyaga Njagi, whose body was found near a river in Machakos County.
Njagi, who worked as the Deputy Catering Services Manager at KUTRRH, was reported missing on Monday, February 2, 2026.
His family said he received a phone call from someone known to him on the night he vanished.
Shortly after, he left his home along the Eastern Bypass in Ruiru, Kiambu County, and never returned.
Family, friends, and colleagues mounted a search, but days later Njagi’s lifeless body was discovered along the Nairobi–Meru highway in Masinga, Machakos County, over 60 kilometres from his residence.
The body bore severe head injuries, apparently inflicted by a blunt object. His car, which he drove away in on the night he vanished, was later found abandoned in Thika, while his mobile phone remains missing.
The killing has sparked outrage among colleagues, who described him as hardworking and dedicated.
Hospital staff and relatives are urging the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to hasten inquiries and apprehend those responsible.
KUTRRH Chief Executive Officer Zainab Gura condemned the murder and demanded justice.
She pressed security agencies to ensure perpetrators face the law, stressing justice is vital for Njagi’s young family and the wider medical community.
The family continues to appeal to anyone with information to assist investigators in their pursuit of answers and justice.
