Peter Munya Breaks Silence On Alleged Secret State House Meeting With President Ruto

Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has broken his silence following the circulation of a viral photograph showing him alongside President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.

In a statement, Munya categorically denied claims of a private or secretive meeting with the President, clarifying that the image had been misinterpreted and taken out of context.

The photo resurfaced hours after he joined United Opposition Leaders in Kisii where Dr. Fred Matiang’i sworn as the Abagusii spokesperson by the Gusii Council of Elders.

The event was held at Ekerenyo Ward North, Mugirango Constituency in Nyamira County, and brought together leaders from across the political spectrum.

Notable attendees included H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka, H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, Hon. Eugene Wamalwa, Governor George Natembeya, and several other regional leaders and supporters.

Munya became part of the team days after the Party of National Unity announced its support for Fred Matiang’i as its presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election, solidifying a collaboration with the Jubilee Party in preparation for upcoming elections.

On February 18, 2026, Jubilee Party made an announcement on its Facebook page, indicating that the two parties have come to an agreement to collaborate, marking the occasion as a significant moment in Kenya's political landscape. 

The statement highlighted, “Today signifies an important chapter in our nation’s political history.

Jubilee Party and the Party of National Unity (PNU) have officially committed to working together, driven by a mutual belief that Kenya deserves leadership that is consistent, experienced, and focused on the people.” 

It also noted that both parties possess distinguished records in governance and nation-building, commending Matiang’i for his contributions to public service across various sectors.
