Her salon business had collapsed after months of low customers. Rent arrears were piling up. School fees deadlines were approaching. Every phone call from an unknown number made her heart race.

The message came from a man claiming to be a powerful spiritual wealth specialist. His social media page was filled with photos of cash, luxury cars, and testimonies from supposed clients thanking him for life changing miracles.
A dangerous promise
Esther reached out.
The man assured her that her financial struggles were caused by blocked destiny and jealous competitors. He claimed he could perform a prosperity ritual that would attract money instantly.
“All you need is faith and a small commitment,” he told her.
That “small commitment” was KSh 30,000 to begin the process.
“I did not even have the money,” Esther says. “I borrowed from a chama group because I was convinced I would pay it back within days.”
After sending the money, she was instructed to follow specific steps. She was told not to doubt. Not to question. Not to tell anyone.
On day three, she was informed that stronger materials were required to complete the ritual. Another payment was demanded.
“They said if I stopped midway, the consequences would be severe,” Esther explains. “I was scared to back out.”
