President William Ruto has sent a strong political message to the ODM stronghold of Nyanza, telling leaders and supporters there that plans for the 2027 General Election should be made together with him.
Speaking openly, Ruto said ODM Secretary General Oburu Odinga should sit down with him and plan for the 2027 polls instead of keeping ODM in endless opposition politics that only bring fights and anger.
Ruto said Kenya needs unity and teamwork, not permanent political wars. He told the Nyanza people that when leaders work with the government, development comes faster.
Roads are built, schools improve, hospitals get support, and young people get chances.
According to Ruto, fighting the government through protests and insults does not help the common mwananchi who only wants food on the table, school fees for children, and a better life.
By mentioning Oburu Odinga directly, Ruto showed he is serious about reaching out to ODM leadership.
Oburu is seen as a key pillar in Raila Odinga’s camp and a trusted family member.
Ruto said Oburu understands politics very well and knows that Kenya cannot move forward if leaders keep pulling in different directions.
He said planning early for 2027 together will reduce tension, lower political temperature, and make elections peaceful.
This message is also seen as a wider plan by Ruto to slowly weaken ODM’s strong grip in Nyanza.
In recent months, Ruto has increased his visits to the region, launched development projects, and praised ODM leaders who choose to work with his government.
He is clearly trying to convince Nyanza voters that cooperation with the government brings real benefits, not just loud opposition slogans.
Among ODM supporters, Ruto’s remarks have caused mixed reactions. Some feel angry and say ODM should stay firm in opposition to protect its identity.
Others quietly admit that many years of fighting the government have not brought major change to the region. They believe sitting at the table brings more power than shouting from outside.
Ruto insisted that his government is open to everyone, regardless of political party.
He said Kenya belongs to all regions and communities. As 2027 approaches, Ruto’s call to Oburu and the Nyanza base shows that political ground is shifting, and big decisions lie ahead.
