Kenyans were deeply moved after a heartwarming video of Ida Odinga enjoying a light moment at her Opoda Farm home surfaced online.
The widow of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga appeared cheerful and full of life, a sign that she is slowly finding healing after her husband’s death.
In the short clip, Ida is seen elegantly dressed in a white, African-themed outfit while admiring a huge Nile perch placed in a sufuria before her.
With a playful smile, she puts her hand inside the fish’s mouth and quickly pulls it out as though startled, sparking laughter among those present.
The light-hearted moment captured her warmth and resilience, which touched many Kenyans.
Since Raila’s passing, Ida has continued to receive overwhelming love and support from citizens who frequently visit Raila’s final resting place at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo.
His grave, located beside that of his father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, has become a place of remembrance for many.
During a recent meeting with widows, Ida opened up about the pain of losing her husband.
Admitting that his death came unexpectedly as his treatment in India had seemed routine.
“I didn’t see any sign that Raila would leave. He left me without a word,” she said.
Online, Kenyans praised Ida for her strength, saying her joyful spirit has encouraged many who are also going through grief.
One social media user wrote, “Mama Ida, seeing you smile has healed my heart.” Another added, “When you marry the right person, their memory keeps giving you strength.”
The video has since gone viral, reminding Kenyans of Ida’s enduring grace and her ability to find light even in moments of sorrow.
