Supporters of President William Ruto have intensified their criticism on Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing her of blackmailing and demeaning the head of state.
Speaking in the Imenti South constituency of Meru County, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula was joined by Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah and eight other MPs in denouncing Gachagua for promoting tribal politics.
Wetang'ula emphasized that no nation can be founded by a single clan and cautioned the Mount Kenya region against tribal divisions. You should be cautious when speaking, regardless of your position or level of influence.
"This country cannot grow under the control of one tribe, so Mt Kenya region, I am here to warn you not to allow your leaders to plant a bad seed of division even if they hold top offices," Wetang'ula stated, most likely alluding to the former DP.
"Be careful, folks living in the mountains! You won't succeed with tribal politics. Communities exist here as well, but we discuss development rather than political goals.
"I warn you, community politics can be noisy and messy, and there will be casualties," he added.
Ichung'wah admonished the former Deputy President, asking him to respect the President and stop using blackmail and stirring up the Mount Kenya region against him.
"I won't remain silent while a strong leader refers to local leaders and MPs as "komerera" and "tugunia" and uses force and intimidation to coerce them.
We are not frightened of you, thus we will continue to promote Mount Kenya's unification. "As a region, we are focused on development, not your own political objectives," Ichung'wah said. For more information, click the following link.
