The murder trial concerning the death of Kasipul MP took a significant turn when the Assistant Commissioner of Police appeared in court.
The police boss disclosed that a vehicle he had previously lent out was used by killers on the day the lawmaker was fatally shot.
While testifying in the ongoing trial, Haikal informed the court that the car had been borrowed by a suspect now associated with the deadly shooting.
The officer stated that investigators later determined that the same vehicle was observed trailing the late MP shortly before gunmen opened fire.
This incident is what the prosecutors assert that it was a well planned assassination with the aid of the MP's bodyguard.
This revelation shocked the courtroom, as attorneys from both sides pressed the senior police officer to clarify how the vehicle transitioned from a simple loan to a vital piece of evidence in one of Kenya’s most closely monitored murder trials.
