"Ndio Hawa" Here is a List of Kenyans Arrested Abroad After Demanding Their 3 Months Salary

The families of eight Kenyans who have been detained in Benghazi, Libya, for almost six weeks are urging the government to act quickly to obtain their release.

According to Monica Wanjiru, a Kenyan working in Libya, the workers were detained on March 21 while trying to seek salary payments.

The employees claimed that their pay had been postponed for two to three months.

The detainees consist of John Okutoi from Kakamega, Victor Gathua and Paul Njehia from Nakuru, Kenneth Wanjehia and Kevin Riguini from Nyeri, Juma Njira and James Opiyo from Mombasa, and Collins Koech from Kapsabet.

Language limitations are said to have played a role in the conflict's escalation because employers and security officers mostly communicated in Arabic.

She said that police were apparently called to the scene, attacked the workers, and then took them into custody.

This has raised concerns on the challenges faced by Kenyans working in foreign countries.
