Gachagua Makes a Sudden U-Turn, Claims He Allowed His Supporters to Visit Ruto

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has shifted his stance following President William Ruto’s Sunday meeting with Akorino faithful at State House.

Gachagua, who had earlier criticized the visit and claimed attendees were driven by personal interests, now says he permitted the group to meet the President after they sought his approval.

According to Gachagua, the Akorino faithful who attended the State House event are his supporters. He alleged that they reached out to him beforehand to request permission to visit Ruto.

He affirmed that it was so unfortunate that the leaders disrespected President Ruto even after being allowed to speak.

"What happened in Nyandarua was so shameful. We should never see such a thing again. The President must be respected," Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen said.

Murkomen spoke after Rigathi, who was speaking in Nyandarua, lectured President Ruto over his impeachment.

The former Deputy President of Kenya said that the people of Mount Kenya had abandoned the Head of State for allegedly betraying them.

Senator Methu Muhia, on the other hand, said he does not fear President Ruto and only respects him as the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief.

"To the President, I don't fear you. I respect you as the Commander-in-Chief and also the President," Methu Muhia said.
