Why Section of Kawangware Crowd Forced To Walk Out of Ruto's Rally Immediately after Jalang'o Began Addressing

A section of residents in Kawangware on Tuesday walked out of President William Ruto’s rally moments after Lang’ata MP Jalang'o was invited to address the crowd.

In a video seen, commotion erupted just as the MP rose to speak, with a number of locals seen leaving the venue. Some of those who walked out were wearing UDA-branded caps, while others were not visibly affiliated with any party attire.

Despite the disruption, Jalang’o proceeded with his speech, addressing supporters and rallying them behind President William Ruto’s re-election bid.

He urged residents to continue backing the Head of State, saying development projects should not be disrupted by political differences.

It remains unclear what triggered the commotion and why a section of the crowd chose to leave immediately after he was invited to speak.

Earlier, Jalang’o publicly confirmed his intention to contest the Nairobi Senate seat in the 2027 General Election. He is seeking to unseat the current Nairobi Senator, Edwin Sifuna.

Sifuna, on the other hand, has reportedly been under pressure from a section of leaders and supporters to consider a presidential bid.
